Bio
Dr. Cristina Teixeira is Associate Professor and former Chair of the Department of Orthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania where she earned her DMD degree, Certificate of Orthodontics, Masters in Oral Biology, and PhD in Developmental Biology.
Dr. Teixeira has served as Director of the Northeast Society of Orthodontics and member of the Council for Orthodontic Education of AAO and has served on the Planning and Awards Review Committee (PARC) of the AAO Foundation. Dr. Teixeira has been an active member of IADR, having served as Director of the Craniofacial Biology Group. Her latest initiative was to establish the Orthodontic Research Group (ORG), where she has served as Councilor and is now President.
Dr. Teixeira’s research on bone growth and development has received support from the NIH and different international research foundations. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, served as mentor to many graduate and undergraduate students, and presented her work at national and international conferences. She is a founding member of CTOR, a center dedicated to translating scientific advances into new and improved Orthodontic treatment techniques.
